Traditional Practices in Siwan

Millions of artisans depend on traditional techniques and indigenous modes of production to make a living. A majority of craft production remains unorganized and informal, and artisans struggle to make ends meet. Propelled by a loss of markets and declining skills, a number of artisans have moved to urban centers in search of alternative employment.

The number of Indian artisans has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years This indicates the need to re-invest in them to safeguard history, culture and an important source of livelihood.
