इतने वर्ष हो गये, परिवर्तन नामक विचार से जुड़े हुए ! गांधी जी के ग्राम स्वराज्य के सपने को विकास
की आधुनिक अवधारणा में बहुत उच्च स्थान नहीं मिला। यह बात मुझे तकलीफ देती थी। मैं लगभग 15 साल पहले बहुत सारे ग्रामीण विकास के क्षेत्र में काम करने वाले लोगों और विशेषज्ञों से मिला था। उसके बाद मैंने गांधी जी के विचार से प्रभावित हो परिवर्तन की परिकल्पना की जिसे निरंतर क्षेत्र की आवश्यकतानुसार विशेषज्ञों
और ग्रामीणों की साझेदारी में पुष्पित पल्लवित होते हुए देखना था। तभी से यह यात्रा निरंतर जारी है।

परिवर्तन की परिकल्पना करते वक़्त कभी अनुमान नहीं लगा पाया था कि भविष्य में इसमें इतने आयाम जुड़ते चले जाएँगे। शिक्षा, कृषि, रंगमंच, महिला समाख्या और खेल इकाई से हुई शुरुआत में हम रोज़गार के अवसर भी उपलब्ध करवाने के प्रयासों में लग जाएँगे; कला एवं संस्कृति के पुनरुत्थान से जुड़े अनेक कार्यक्रमों को परिसर में सम्पन्न कर पाएँगे; देश भर के कलाकार, बुद्धिजीवी, विचारक एवं रंगकर्मी इस परिसर में आकर ग्रामीणों के संग रहकर, उनकी ही बातों को कहेंगे, सुनेंगे और नई उत्साही, विकासशील अवधारणाओं का निर्माण करने लगेंगे। हम असफलताओं से भरी कृषि की कहानी को उलट कर सफलता की इबारत लिखने लग जाएँगे और इस तरह ग्रामीण विकास के स्वप्न को सच्चे अर्थों में जमीन पर घटित होते हुए देख पाएँगे।
