ADOLESCENT GIRL AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
















This is Tamanna Khan who hails from Bokaro, Jharkhand.She has graduated from Bokaro itself.Since February 2022, she has been associated with Mahila Samakhya from Parivartan as a team facilitator.Prior to this, she has been working in many different organizations in the field of women empowerment for about 3 years.They believe that there is immense energy inside a woman, she just needs to blossom.She also wants to break the veil system prevalent in the society and wants to create a healthy environment for every woman and teenager where she can live freely.

Raisa Khatoon works in Bhalaipur, Bhikpur, Bharauli of Panchayat Bahrauli. Being a part of Parivartan for the last five years, Raisa believes that she has evolved as a person. Raisa is now more confident about herself than before joining Parivartan. She dreams of playing a significant role in changing many social evils and become a shining beacon of hope, by showing exemplary devotion in her respective field.

Shanti Devi works in Chhiyasi, Tiwari ke Badhya, Sanjalpur, Gonthi of Panchayat Bhawrajpur. She says she is highly motivated after her interaction with her fellow Sahyoginis and from their work. She is dedicated to serve with full conviction, contributing to social causes. She feels that empowerment of women comes with information and inclusion in every matter. She believes that a society can grow more with the inclusion of women in the process of decision making.

Nirmala Devi joined Parivartan in June 2017. She works in five villages of Bhatkhan Panchayat of Mian of Bhatkhan, Gomti, Seekian, Narayanpur and Sanjalpur. They say that women are not free even today, because they see people of the society with their eyes, so this woman is joining the clan and is trying to bring the rights of women and society forward.

Chanda Devi works in Pakvaliya, Hasanpurva and Dharmpur villages of Panchayat Bharauli. She has been a part of Parivartan since 2013. Chanda understands the need to empower women. She believes that an informed woman can bring in positive changes in the society. By working in Parivartan, she has learnt a lot about the problems of the women in the community and provides them as much support as needed. Chanda enjoys learning computer and believes it is one of the ways that she feels empowered.

Tara Devi works in village Bhavrajpur of Panchayat Bhavrajpur. She is empathetic towards others and wishes to use her power for doing well. For her, breaking the shackles of patriarchy was difficult. Mahila Samakhya has brought a lot of change in her. She now takes part in the decision making of her family.

Savita Devi works in village Badhuliya and Narendrapur of Panchayat Narendrapur. She says that making women in the villages aware of ways in which they could empower themselves satisfies her. She unquestionably believes that adversity leads to success. Through her experience at Parivartan, she has been able to gain an understanding about her rights and duties as a citizen.

Sarita Gupta works in village Velvasa, Singhi and Hardohpatti of Panchayat Garar. After getting the opportunity to be associated with the women empowerment group of Parivartan, she feels that she is a part of her fellow women’s joys and sorrows. Through the support of the fellow Sahyoginis, she feels that she has become very strong and courageous. Sarita understands that it is not just important to educate a girl child but it is also important for family members to understand the importance of education. She believes that a woman should be independent in every aspect.

Raziya Khatoon works in villages Jamapur, Garar and Khargi Raampur of Panchayat Jamapur. She is resilient to life’s hardships. She believes in dealing with problems head-on.

Rajawti works in 6 villages of Panchayat Chandauli-Ganguali. She believes that working in Parivartan as a Sahyogini, has made her more confident and fearless. Rajawti understands the difficulties faced by women in the community. For her, working is a matter of choice which every women should have. Rajawti aspires to support every woman and adolescent in the community.

Kavita Devi works in Masudaha, Lachchhiram Parari Khemraj Parari of Panchayat Bhawrajpur. She has a keen interest in reaching out to as many as she can. She seeks to increase the voice, visibility and validity to bring about a change for women. Kavita has helped her family members also understand the importance of educating women. She is very brave and has the courage to fight against any odds. She gets her inspiration from her fellow Sahyoginis.

Meena Devi works in villages Baliya, Salahpur, Ujjain Bangra and Sajwa of Panchayat Baliya. She marvels at the change in herself through this transformational journey of working for the welfare of rural women. She has a dynamic personality which is an inspiration for many women in the community. Today, she is happy that she can do everything independently and has her own recognition in society.

Kiran has been a part of Parivartan since 2013. Kiran Devi works in village Baikunthpur of Panchayat Garar. She took charge of enhancing her personality for the better. She has got an appetite for learning computers. She wants her daughters to get the same privileges as her sons do. She is amazed to see her transformation into an independent woman who can now speak her mind. She believes that her fellow Sahyoginis have always supported her throughout her journey in Parivartan

Indu Devi works in villages Khem Bhatkan and Babu Bhatkan of Panchayat Narendrapur. She finds satisfaction in meeting up and engaging in meaningful conversations with women of her group. She aspires to become self-sufficient to make ends meet and educate her children.

Arty Devi works in villages Pathar Dae, Bangra, Mahmoodpur and Ruhiya of Panchayat Jamapur. She is determined to make a change in the society by providing her support to everyone. She likes to learn new things on computer and mobile phones. Through her efforts and determination, she has been able to get her son enrolled for pursuing graduation. For her family, she is their strength.
AGRICULTURE



Mr. Vivek Kumar Kushwaha, joined in September, 2019, is an Agriculture Facilitator in Parivartan. He hails from Kushinagar, a village in Uttar Pradesh. Vivek has previously worked with Rasi and Kaedila seed companies. He had an experience of working with the farmers by making them aware of the new techniques and products that enhance their yield.

Balinder works closely with Dr. Tiwari and provides ideas and insights into the challenges faced by farmers in our communities. Hailing from a family of farmers, he has combined his passion for community development with sustainable farming and is assisting in planning, organizing and managing agricultural activities. Prior to joining Parivartan, he had worked with the Agriculture department in Bihar. He is well trained to assist diligently with the new techniques to boost productivity. He aims for regenerative agriculture that illustrate holistic, value based ways to farm satisfyingly and successfully. With environmental and economic conditions manifesting, Balinder serves in renewing, enhancing environment and improving lives of their community.
COMMUNITY SPORTS






Mithilesh Kumar Singh is the Project Manager for the Community Sports vertical at Parivartan. In the past he has been a change worker for reproductive health and family planning schemes and has a strong hold on community mobilisation. He has served for organisations such as Agragami, PCI, IYCF and as a master trainer on various projects. At Parivartan he is responsible for management and monitoring of the Sports for Development, Sports Excellence and Leadership in Action programmes. He is responsible for organisation meets, field visits, group discussions, data management and reporting.

Pawan Kumar Sah (Football Coach): Hailing from Sasaram district in Bihar, Pawan has completed his intermediate and graduation from there. Having keen interest in sports, he completed a course in Sports Education.he joined Parivartan in the year 2021. Prior to this, he was working as a teacher in a school at Patna. He was also training students for exams in Bihar police.

Arvind joined Parivartan in the year 2015. With the hope to make a positive change, Arvind works as a Leadership Trainer. His trainings focus on how to inspire the youth towards bringing social change in the community. His trainings act as a driving force for the youth to take the initiative to develop the community. Arvind has previously worked with organizations like Magic Bus and Saksham. To him education is not just about classroom learning but also being able to apply these learnings practically.

Rajkeshwar Kumar serves as a Youth Mentor in the community Sports vertical at Parivartan. He has an experience of work as a Community Youth Leader in Parivartan “Magic bus program” A post- graduate from JP University, he has been passionately working as a youth mentor since 2015. He has also been part of Jagriti Yatra for the year 2014-15. As a youth member he is responsible for showcasing excellent managerial skills, supervision, identification, formulation, implementation of interventions, high quality programming and curriculum for events/programs on best practice in the field to promote participation, innovation and sharing of resources. He supervises a dynamic team of CYLs along with other youth members; ensures compliance including tracking and evaluating session reports, outline strategies for facilitating active participation from community children.

Abhimanyu Kumar Singh, a resident of village Surwal, joined Parivartan on September, 2019 as Umang’s Kabaddi Coach. Being an ardent Kabaddi player since 2014, Abhimanyu has participated in around 20 district level and 5 state level Kabaddi matches. Abhimanyu has been a Kabaddi coach previously where he had trained Under 14 and Under 17 teams of Siwan district. He believes that Parivartan has given him the platform to train many such Kabaddi players like himself who have the potential to reach National and International levels.
COMMUNITY THEATRE















Ashutosh Mishra is the facilitator for the Community Theatre Vertical at Parivartan, what we call the Parivartan Natya Mandali. Prior to joining Parivartan, Ashutosh worked with Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA), Kolkata for 25 years. He has been a part of numerous theatre groups in the past. He also served for a community radio show. As an expert in the field of art he introduced the dramatics group in Parivartan. He oversees the promotion of dramatics and art with education, works towards revival of folk music and art forms. He has been a part of various plays to address social issues thereby educating village people.He has been mentoring and nurturing the Natya Mandali that comprises of 14 local artists from 8 villages. He has been working at Parivartan since 2013 and has engaged with the local community through both, stage plays and nukkad nataks.

Radheshyam joined Parivartan in 2015. He is the Naal (Drum) player of the Rang Mandali. He loves to play the Naal for his team. He believes that he gets to learn a lot from his team about music.

Doma Ram joined Parivartan in the year 2014. Since then, he has accompanied our Rang Mandali team by playing harmonium. Previously, he had played harmonium with many troupes. But in Parivartan, he has got the opportunity to play it in various theatre festivals in Mumbai, Delhi and Patna. He feels that he gets to teach as well as learn about music from the new generation.

Rozadin joined Parivartan in 2014. He is interested in music and loves to learn different instruments. He is currently in class 10th. He performed in many plays as a musician as well as an actor. He has a very melodious voice and he loves to sing.

Nitam has been a part of Rang Mandali since 2014. She believes that theatre has helped her build her communication skills. Today, she is not shy and expresses her feelings vehemently. Nitam’s outlook towards life has changed since she joined Rang Mandali. She feels that she has been able to bring some amount of change in the mindset of people through theatre.

Anshu joined Parivartan in 2015. She is in the second year of her graduation with specialization in history. Anshu marvels at the change that she notices in herself. She feels that she is more confident with her communication skills than before. According to her, many people have changed their opinions towards theatre and now to some extent, have considered it to be a space where women can perform. Anshu gets her motivation by striving to work towards breaking all the stereotypes in the society. She loves music.

Kavita joined Parivartan in the year 2016. She has been interested in theatre from the very beginning. People’s feedback after every play is a source of motivation for her. She feels that the varied opinions of people help her grow as an actor. Presently, she is in the first year of Intermediate. She wishes to continue her studies as well as her passion for theatre.

Pratima joined Parivartan in 2014. Prior to that, she was learning music in Narendrapur Sangeet Vidyalaya. For Pratima, theatre is not just a passion but an art that helped her improve her communication skills. Pratima has performed in many plays with the Rang Mandali team. She is happy that she can bring in positive change in people through the medium of theatre.

Pankaj joined Parivartan in 2014. Prior to this, he performed in plays in his village. Pankaj believes that Parivartan has not just helped in learning acting techniques but also supported him in academics whenever needed. Pankaj looks at theatre as an avenue which can change the perspective of people towards any social problem. He has learnt many techniques with the Rang Mandali. He is thankful to Parivartan who has helped him delve deeper into the different aspects of theatre.

Ajit joined Parivartan in 2013. Ajit has performed in many plays in Parivartan. He believes that theatre has brought positive changes in the way he expresses himself. He acknowledges the responses of the audience after every play which helps him understand his strengths as well as weaknesses. Currently, he has taken admission in Bachelor of Social Work and aims to work for the development of society through theatre.

Vivek has been a part of Parivartan since 2013. Vivek believes that music and theatre can bring in positive changes in the society. He had an interest in theatre for a long time. He feels that Parivartan has given him a platform to nurture his talents and also use theatre as a medium for the social good of the community. He has completed his intermediate and is learning music. Though there have been many obstacles in his life, but he has overcome them with the support of the Rang Mandali team.

Anup Prasad, who is from Andar block of Siwan district, has completed his graduation with specialization in Geography. Since 2014, he has been working with Parivartan Rangmandali as a team member. He has participated in a total of 20 plays and 10 concerts. In future, he wants to be a good actor and director. He has special interest in lights and stage designing and wants to pursue a course in the same field.

Feroz has been a part of Parivartan since 2013. Before joining Parivartan, he learned classical music. He used to participate in plays that were staged during Dussehra. Since then, he has been interested in performing in theatre. He has performed in many plays in Parivartan and has been appreciated by the audience for his performance. What motivates Feroz to work is the family like environment that is there at Parivartan. He also gets his inspiration when he is able to change the perspective of people towards any social issue. Presently, Feroz is pursuing a course in Bachelor of Social Work and wants to pursue a career in theatre in the future.

Akash Kumar works as a manager for Theatre Repertory. Akash has been contributing to rural development since an intermediate student, in the villages. He is currently pursuing Bachelor of Social Work and intends to pursue a career in social work. He has been making people conscious and aware with street plays and songs. Akash has participated in varied music programs with 15 stage plays and 10 street plays. He has had opportunities for exhibiting his talent at the state level. He is interested in making stage props and is even a better player of Parivartan’s Umang Team.
EDUCATION








Brajesh Kumar Singh Hailing from Chhapra district in Bihar. Brajesh has Completed his graduation from Jaiprakash University. Worked as Computer Facilitator in Parivartan Since 2016 -20. From August 2021, he is again working as a Mathematics Facilitator in Parivartan . He has Spent almost 15 years of life as a teacher. He is very interested in teaching children and in social work.

Deepak joined Parivartan in the year 2021. He belongs to village Madhishilapur, 5kms away from Parivartan. Completing his graduation from J.P. University, Deepak was always interested in teaching children. He has previously worked at a private school and coaching centre. Through his work at Parivartan as a Library facilitator, he aims to develop every child’s interest towards reading books.

This is Sandeep Kumar Singh, who is a resident of village Madishilapur in Siwan district. He is working as a Mathematics Facilitator in Parivartan since November 2021.They have studied psychology up to post graduation as well as have received primary teacher training. Prior to this, he was working as a teacher in Perfect Public High School, Andar.Along with this, he has also contributed in social work for almost 2 years by being associated with Nehru Yuva Kendra Siwan.They want to do social work even further in their life, they are also associated with Parivartan for the same purpose.TThey believe that it is only children who can become social reformers in the coming future.

This is Arya Singh who is a resident of Bharauli Siwan. Din Dayal Upadhyay has graduated from Gorakhpur. Since February 2022, she has been associated with the Parivartan as a Balghar Kislay Facilitator.Before that she was working in a private school. She feels good working with small children. They believe that here children are the foundation of the society, on which there is a great need for attention, they will be molded into the mold in which they are cast.

Rajwardhan is the Gharounda Facilitator in Parivartan. Since his childhood itself, he was very keen to do something in the field of fine arts. Hailing from Purnea, Bihar, he won awards and laurels from the D.M. for being the District Level winner in painting. He did his Bachelors in Fine Arts and is currently pursuing post graduation with a specialization in Madhubani paintings. His aim is to encourage children towards the field of art and see them grow in it.

Sudhir Kumar is the science facilitator in the education vertical at Parivartan. He joined Parivartan in 2017 prior to which he served for PRATHAM as a science facilitator. Vigyanshala is a hands-on science space and Sudhir is responsible for the establishment of a science curriculum that promotes and develops children’s knowledge and understanding of scientific ideas and concepts.
His responsibilities include conducting community outreach programmes, presenting science shows, holding workshops, demonstrations, model-making, curriculum facilitation and management of the science lab.

Madhubala Devi is a facilitator in our Baal Ghar Angan programme that focuses on early childhood development. Prior to joining Parivartan, she completed her studies with specialization in Homeopath. She has been a part of Parivartan for the last 5 years. Madhubala loves to work with children. Her ability to communicate with children and help them develop their speech and communication, gives her immense joy. Apart from supporting children, she is considered to be a guide for all the Anganwadi Sewikas in the community.
LIVELIHOOD



Sukesh Kundu from village Navodip, district Nadiya, West Bengal, is a Master Weaver in the stitching unit. He has been associated with weaving since he was a child. He was also a part of organisations like Jharcraft, Ranchi and Kolkata craft. His passion for weaving has taught him the various intricacies of modern as well as traditional styles of weaving. Sukesh is a part of Parivartan since March 2018.

Sudhir Kumar hails from village Bhageya, Hirakuthari district Godda of Jharkhand state. He has been a part of Parivartan since March 2018. Sudhir works in the weaving unit as the Master Weaver. He was trained at Jharcraft, Ranchi and from the year 2013, he worked as a trainer at an organisation for five years. Sudhir is highly influenced by the values of Parivartan and wants to support the community through his skill.
PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT


Alok has been working as the Programme Coordinator at Parivartan since 2017. Prior to joining Parivartan he served as a science teacher in Siwan. He also worked as an English trainer and as an accountant cum academic in- charge with Pratham Education Foundation PACE. He is a graduate in Science and has a degree in Education. Currently he is pursuing a distance course in Masters in Social Work. He believes that positive thinking can make a lot of difference in the lives of rural communities. He is responsible for creating vertical wise database of beneficiaries for effective internal and external communication, monitoring information system, creation and compilation of reports, managing and consolidation of calendar of activities and events, content development and management of the information Kiosk, support in capacity building of parivartan staff as well as systemic archiving of documents and reports.
ADMINISTRATION


Avinash Gupta is responsible for handling the administration at Parivartan. He is from Bokaro, Steel City (Jharkhand). He is a graduate and thereafter, started working in various organisations. In October, 2018, he became a part of Parivartan.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


Setika Singh is the Executive Director of Takshila Foundation— the associate body of Takshila Educational Society (TES), a non-profit working in the space of education, rural development, art and culture. She has completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Warwick in Economics followed by a postgraduate degree in Social Policy and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She then worked under the mentorship of the CEO of a prestigious International NGO, Magic Bus India Foundation. Currently, she is responsible for the management and strategic development of TES’s integrated rural community development initiative called Parivartan. Functional from October 2011, Parivartan has been working from its beautiful campus at Narendrapur village (Siwan, Bihar) in 36 nearby villages on various issues that include early childhood development, education, livelihood, farming practices, social and economic empowerment of women, music and theatre revival, community sports as well as weaving craft revival. Besides, Setika is also a disciple of the Kathak maestro, Pt. Birju Maharaj and has given several solo and group performances in India and abroad.
